The extreme terrain and climate of the Andes mountains is where the softest, finest wool in the world is produced. Straight from Peru, this is the same luxurious wool that was treasured by the Incas. Alpaca wool is fine, soft, and the fibers are straight, while Merino wool which is also fine and soft, has a natural crimp which adds loft to the weave. Blending these fine wools together results in a luxuriously soft blanket that is thick, warm, and breathable.

The surface of both sides is brushed for a soft furry texture, and reinforced binding protects the edging and increases durability.

  • Soft and lofty, due to the combination of Alpaca and Sheep wool fibers.
  • Washable or can be dry cleaned.
  • Warm and breathable - both Alpaca and Sheep wool have air pockets inside each wool fiber. This promotes a more restful sleep.
  • Full/Queen size - 72 x 88 inches, 5.5 lbs.
  • Virgin wool.
  • Perfect for bedding, travel, camping, or emergency use.
  • 100% made in Peru.

Care Instructions

  • Minor soiling can be sponged off with damp cloth.
  • Use only mild liquid soap or wool wash - no bleach or enzymes (we recommend using *Outback Gold Wool Wash).
  • Machine wash on delicate cycle or hand wash.
  • Do not agitate.
  • Cold water only.
  • Use spin cycle to remove excess water.
  • Lay flat to dry away from direct heat. Do not tumble dry.
  • Can also be dry cleaned.

*Outback Gold Wool Wash is a natural, plant based formula and is specially formulated for wool products. Allowing the blanket to soak for approximately 30 minutes can add extra softening and help fade the natural wooly scent.

    Alpaca Sheep Wool Blanket

Posted by Tia Knuth on Nov 10th 2022

I originally bought the smallest size for an outdoor survival experience and it kept me warm for three nights though too bulky to backpack with. I recently bought a larger size for my bed at home. It is so warm and cozy especially when the power goes out that it replaces several layers of non-wool quilts/blankets. It's also quite beautiful and simple to care for.

    Great blanket! Kinda smelly

Beautiful and super comfy blanket. It has an overpowering barny lanolin smell and leaves a slight oily residue on my hands. I hope this goes away

I was given an Alpaca and Sheep Wool Blanket as a gift and I love it. This is the warmest blanket I ever had, it is light weight not heavy yet it keeps you warm when sleeping even on the coldest nights. I would recommend it without reservation it is fabulous.

    Love!

Posted by Cat on Feb 8th 2021

Absolutely love this blanket. Deducting one star for the polyester binding - I bought this blanket because I prefer natural fibers. A cotton binding would have been better IMO! Blanket is super soft, smells like a mountain cabin when you first unpack it... (which I think is a pleasant smell - much better than the chemical smell of man made fibers) and the smell fades over time - so if you don’t like the smell of a mountain cabin, don’t worry. It’s soft, but don’t expect the softness of poly fleece. It has a very slightly rough/thick texture to it, because it’s natural fiber - but it’s not itchy or uncomfortable by any means. It’s nice and heavy and overall a gorgeous blanket. I might need to buy one for every bed in the house!
