Baby alpaca combed top in natural undyed ecru. Despite the name, "baby" is a fineness grade, not an age — it refers to the finest, softest fibers of the fleece, selected from the most delicate areas of the coat at shearing. At roughly 17.5 microns this is the softest alpaca grade, with a smooth, even structure and a gentle luster.
Raised at high altitude in the Andes and completely lanolin-free, baby alpaca is light, warm, and kind to sensitive skin. A treat for spinners, and a beautiful accent fiber for felting and blending with merino.
