Undyed superfine alpaca combed top in rich natural shades, straight off some very handsome animals — no dyes needed. Graded at roughly 23.5 microns, superfine alpaca comes from the finer, more even parts of the fleece, giving a smooth, consistent top that is silkier than sheep's wool of the same grade. Alpacas are raised at high altitude in the Andes, where the temperature swings build a fleece that is light, strong, and wonderfully warm.
Because alpaca carries no lanolin, it is naturally low-odor and a favorite of crafters who find sheep's wool irritating. Spin it on its own, blend it with merino for softness and halo, or use it for fur, hair, and coat effects on needle felted animals.
