Tussah silk combed top in its natural honey-cream shade. Tussah comes from silkworms that live in open forest rather than on cultivated mulberry, feeding on wild trees — which gives the silk its warm natural color, a slightly thicker filament, and a gentle, organic texture that many fiber artists prefer to the glassy smoothness of mulberry silk.
It spins into strong, softly lustrous yarn, blends beautifully with wool for glow without slickness, and lays down as a luminous surface layer in wet felting and nuno work.
