Yak down is the fine insulating undercoat that high-plateau yaks grow against Himalayan winters — around 18 microns, in the same softness class as fine merino, but warmer for its weight and with a beautiful matte depth of color that only comes from the animal itself.
Spinners love it pure or blended with merino and silk; needle felters reach for it for rich, naturally shaded animal coats. No dyes anywhere — three true yak colors.
